Revamped SelfGuide Recorder

The SelfGuide Recorder has undergone a major transformation. After an extensive preview period and valuable user feedback, the new version is now generally available.

The redesigned SelfGuide Recorder delivers a faster, more intuitive, and streamlined experience, with several key improvements:

• Launch the SelfGuide Recorder directly from your browser
• No separate authentication required
• Easily manage recordings using the browser toolbar (start, stop, and upload)
• Edit recorded steps directly in your browser
• Automatic multilingual support based on your browser language

These enhancements make creating and maintaining instructions easier than ever.

See the instruction below for recording steps with the new SelfGuide Recorder.

Important Information

When switching to the new SelfGuide Recorder, please keep the following in mind:

  • Always use SelfGuide in your browser. The separate desktop application is no longer supported for recording instructions.
  • If you are using Microsoft Entra ID integration, any exclusions previously configured in Conditional Access policies for the SelfGuide Recorder can be removed.
  • The new SelfGuide Recorder is fully backward compatible. Over the coming months, we will encourage editors to upgrade to the new experience. Starting October 2026, only the new version will be supported.
  • Administrators will receive further communication in the coming days regarding unattended installations. These installations cannot be upgraded by editors themselves and require administrative action.

Bug Fixes

The following issues have been resolved:

  • An infinite loading state could occur when two exercises were placed consecutively within the same course section.
  • The Exercise Editor incorrectly allowed steps to be removed or hidden/shown.
  • The step selector in the Exercise Editor displayed unexpected behavior in specific scenarios.
  • The "Add user to content channel" dialog was not styled correctly.
