10 January - Warn by unsaved changes (AWI)

This article is from before the rebranding to SelfGuide. Text and images can include the old product name ProductivityPerformer or its abbreviation PP.

When making changes to content, it can be annoying when these are lost due to forgetting to save changes. In this release, we introduce the unsaved change warning while editing an AWI. This overcomes losing changes while navigating out of the edit window when the changes are not saved yet. Read more about this and other new functionalities below.

Warn by unsaved changes (AWI)

The AWI edit window requires a save to persist the changes made. However, sometimes, this is forgotten. For example, when navigating to a different window within SelfGuide causes the changes to be lost. From this release, when there are one or more unsaved changes while leaving the AWI edit window, a warning will be shown. The warning informsthe editor about the unsaved changes and provides the option to choose for saving those changes and navigate, discard those changes and navigate or cancel the navigation and stay in the AWI edit window.

Note: Unsaved change behavior onky works for navigation within SelfGuide. Changing the browser window URL does not trigger this behavior.

Cancel unsaved changes

Within Settings, an administrator is able to make changes to Users and Content Packs. We added a Cancel button to have intuitive and consistent behavior when editing entities.

Improve User Guide library performance

Recent improvements had a negative side effect on the User Guide library performance. In bigger tenants it became slow and sometimes even took over 5 seconds to load. We improved loading the library to be as responsive as we expected.

Preload step image in the AWI Viewer

The AWI Viewer is used to consume knowledge and going through the steps should feel smooth and not let the user wait. We improved the AWI VIewer so information is beging fetched in the background and not when the user navigates.

Cleanup recording and AWI data

Due to changes over time, some data was obsolete or stored in a way we did not like. We performed some cleanup and refactoring to keep the platform in good shape with the ability to extend and improve. We do this more often but we do not always mention this work in release notes. We invested time in cleanup and structure of recording and AWI step action data.
