25 July - Start recording button in Instruction editor

This article is from before the rebranding to SelfGuide. Text and images can include the old product name ProductivityPerformer or its abbreviation PP.

Experienced editors know the SelfGuide Recorder is needed to add steps to an Instruction, for new editors this is something they need to get used to. With this release, we have improved the Instruction edit window so editors don't get stuck. Read more about this and other changes below.

Start recording button in Instruction editor

An editor is taken through 3 steps when creating a new Instruction. First creating the Instruction with the initial meta data like a title, description, tags and applications. The second step is adding steps, step images and step action by creating a recording. In the last step the quality of the Instruction is improved by editing the steps.

The second step requires the SelfGuide Recorder, a usage behavior an editor needs to get used to. From now on, the Instruction edit window will inform the editor about the need to use the SelfGuide Recorder when working in the browser. A small change with a big positive impact towards an intuitive product.

Update window performance improvement

The Instruction edit window did show an odd behavior, the images for the old recording where fetched a lot faster compared to the images for the new recording. The performance of this window has been improved, loading the images is up to 3 times faster.

Improve old dated recorder notification

After the previous release, we did receive questions about the need to update SelfGuide Recorder installations being out dated. Editors thought it was mandatory and they could not continue without upgrading. The notification has been changed so it's more intuitive an editor can choose to continue with the current version and upgrade later.

Bugfixes

  • The chosen feedback category was not submitted with the feedback message
  • Several changes to different users did interfere with each other causing incorrect information to be stored
  • The Add Instruction modal closed unexpected when scrolling to the bottom of the modal
